Meet Trailblazer Cassidy Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassidy Boone.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cassidy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story has lost of curves and twists, as do many! I’m a classically trained opera singer who works in international marketing for the tourism industry. I’ve lived abroad several times and have circumnavigated the globe with my mother & sister. Born and raised in Colorado, no matter where life takes me I can never resist the call of the Colorado Rockies.

Because She Can – Travel Blog launched in July 2017 and it’s been steadily growing since then! Starting a travel blog was always percolating in the back of my mind, I’ve been fortunate to travel the globe and my family instilled a very strong wanderlust from a young age. After literal years of people saying I should start a travel blog, one day, I just decided it was time.

I began by researching how to start a travel blog and built a platform that will support a successful business as the blog takes off and grows. It’s all about looking ahead to my goals – plan for the most successful outcome; build as though you already have a massive audience and popular product. Then, when your dreams come true, you will be ready!

Has it been a smooth road?
Right now, I am still in the beginning years of Because She Can – Travel Blog. Going in I knew it could take up to 5-7 years before the blog really took off on its own as a stand-alone business. So, while it has been a smooth road thankfully, there is still a ways to go and I won’t be leaving my “day job” any time soon (I love it too much, anyway!). Some challenges I face are motivation to create content and carving out time to actually sit down and work on the blog.

When you are pulled in a million directions, sometimes, it seems like there just isn’t enough time. Lately, I have been scheduling blog time into my calendar, going to my favorite coffee shop with my dog, and cranking out content, photo editing, and managing my blog’s social media presence. Firmly setting a date with myself to work on the blog (and only the blog!) has vastly improved my motivation. It’s hard not to feel motivated when you start seeing what you are capable of! Keep at it, make the time, and reap the rewards.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Because She Can – Travel Blog spans a wide range of travel topics and budgets. I’m fortunate to have experienced travel at many different levels – from a shoestring budget to Five Star luxury. Being able to provide advice for my readers on all levels has set my blog apart. It isn’t one niche – I try to provide information that will be useful across the board. Additionally, I work in the travel & tourism industry, which means that I have a unique behind-the-scenes look at what is going on around the globe for travelers. Paired with my own personal experiences, I am able to load up Because She Can – Travel Blog with some really great content. Hopefully it helps my readers to have memorable, enjoyable travels!

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
There are so many wonderful books, blogs, and resources out there. As many top leaders in this world advise, it is so, so important to read every single day. I am here to parrot that same belief because guess what, it works! I have a Kindle and use Overdrive to check out e-books and audiobooks (for my daily commute) from my local library. It’s free and you will have a huge selection to pull from.

The book that I absolutely, 100% firmly believe everyone needs to read/listen to is “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” by Jen Sincero. Her book has helped me to launch in ways I cannot even describe. Jen Sincero’s quirky, no-nonsense, truly funny approach to getting your life together and believing in yourself is something I think everyone needs in their life. Love yourself and go read it.

When it comes to apps, I am in LOVE with Google Maps. That sweet little app has saved me more than once, it is probably to a most-used app on my phone, right after Pandora radio. Being a frequent traveler, I am also a huge proponent of downloading airline apps, hotel rewards apps, etc. – if you’re traveling, you might as well tap into those resources. Even if they accrue slowly, it’s worth the two minutes to set up an account. Another app I cannot live without when traveling internationally is the OANDA Currency Converter. When I’m out shopping in another country, sometimes the price conversion escapes me – having a handy dandy app to help with those quick conversions has certainly been useful in a variety of situations.
