Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Shade.
Diana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since I was a little girl, my mom loved to have me involved in arts, I did ballet, piano, violin, painting and acting, When I was 15 years old, I wanted to take back my violin lessons, somebody gave me the phone number of the symphonic orchestra’s concertino, I called him and when I was waiting for him to answer I saw a flyer about singing lessons, then I hung up and I thought: what if… so I called the voice teacher instead. It turned out that he was a classical singer so I instantly fell in love with the style, the elegance, the technic and with the magical fact of being able to fill a hall without a microphone.
On the other side, my brother was a metal guy and I grew up listening to his music which I really liked, so when I discovered opera rock and symphonic metal music that was it, like a dream come true! I decided to be a better singer and starting to learn professionally so one day I could make a project like that.
I met my dear husband Mane Cabrales around the time when I was about to start my music degree, I was so lucky, everything was perfect in the puzzle of my life, he is a great composer and after a few years we started working on my own musical project, we created Thy Shade and we are very proud of how it turned out, we got signed by Massacre Records Europe and now, I have great musicians like Richard Ontiveros, Craig Winston and Jake Boes that joined me in this journey. We are currently working on the second album and we expect it will be even better than The Last Goodbye album.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Well, good things cost a lot, years of study, money, work, time, dealing with difficult people sometimes, but I don’t feel alone and I’m not scared to keep going, I try to keep the people I admire close and the negative people far. I love making new friends especially artists and music lovers.
We’d love to hear more about Thy Shade.
We specialize in symphonic metal music, we got this phrase in a review: “In times where the symphonic metal genre is becoming oversaturated, Thy Shade is like a bowl of fresh air, Simply Majestic!”… I think what makes us special is that we just make music to make art and have peace of mind, nothing else.
