Meet Trailblazer G ~

Today we’d like to introduce you to G ~.

So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Sarah but I go by “G”. A former singer, dancer, actor in NYC. I got my start after a vocal injury suddenly changed the trajectory of all my plans and goals. For ten years, I traveled the world singing ABBA and dancing like a Cat! The Broadway Tour of Mamma Mia, The Euro/Asian Tour of West Side Story, The Broadway Tour of The Grinch, The Awesome 80’s Prom Off Bway and But I’m A Cheerleader… I thought I knew what was coming and everything was set. The moment when singing was no longer an option set my life on a new course that I am so thankful for to this day. My fitness career began in New York at Physique 57 one of the original Barre Studios. Upon moving to Denver, I began teaching at Pure Barre Boulder and later joined the Corporate Master Teacher Training Team. On the side, I taught spin at a local cycling company called Beat Cycle and later moved on to CycleBar. Currently, I am the Master Instructor for the Rush Cycle Denver Studios, a Master Teacher Trainer for Rush Cycle Corporate and an instructor for the new AKT Studio in Cherry Creek. I always say that when my life was on the stage it was two dimensional. When I transitioned into fitness is when I found my true life. Using movement, music, combined with motivation and accountability alongside a like-minded community is a magic that cannot be created anywhere else! It’s a community that I love and I am thankful for every day.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has NOT been smooth!!! Not sure there has even been an actual road most of the time. Aside from having to change my life plans and try on something new later in life, various struggles include constant rejection, the forever hustle of trying to be everything to everyone and every job. The constant learning and understanding people of different personalities likes and dislikes – what makes them tick, how do they learn, how can you connect with them, how do you give them tough love without shutting them down completely. The struggles of building a business when you don’t know what you are doing and feeling overwhelmed when you feel as though you can never catch up to even being considered average. Biggest advice I can give is two concepts: 1. The JOURNEY IS the destination… I don’t think there is ever a moment when you will feel as though you arrived. There is always one more mountain, level, goal, one more moment. Enjoy the process because that is what life is. 2. Conflict Creates You – don’t be afraid of the challenges, the failures, the struggles because those are the moments that make you who you are supposed to be and get you where you are supposed to go.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Gee Force – what should we know?
Currently, I am the Master Instructor for the Rush Cycle Denver studios and a Master Teacher Trainer for Rush Cycle Corporate. As Master Instructor for Rush Cycle Denver, my job entails management of all instructors and brand quality. Auditions, training, continuing education, scheduling, studio maintenance, payroll, teaching classes – it’s a little bit of anything and everything to keep the studio the best it can be. My role as a Master Teacher Trainer for our corporate Team includes traveling to brand new studios in new markets. For two-three weeks, I teach all of the studio’s soft opening classes, audition and train their instructor team and set them up operationally to run on their own once they get to Grand Opening. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our company grow across the country and introduce a brand new community to something I love so much.

As an instructor, I am known for jumping off the bike and podium. My classes are fast, and energetic combined with a lot of heart. Each class has a theme or a thought that we ride to and my playlists will reflect the journey of that idea. My classes are known as the casual rave. My teaching reflects the center of my company. At Rush Cycle, we are all about community. We are inclusive. We are high energy. We are not too cool and not afraid to not be perfect. We are a safe place to struggle a safe place to grow and connect.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I believe that my experiences as a child enabled me to take risks. I have tons of fear and doubt yet somehow I am able to go after the crazy regardless of what my head tells me. Growing up, I was in competitive dance and it was there that I learned that not everyone is nice, not everyone will cheer for you, not all friends are great, but that I am ok anyway. I had to learn that regardless of what everyone else thought or did I could control myself and my actions and that was all that mattered.
