Meet Trailblazer Katie Burgoyne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Burgoyne.

Katie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We purchased Denver Amramp on January 2 of 2019. It took a little over a year for us to get funding to purchase the business. We knew we would do whatever was needed to buy the business. At the time, my husband was working 50 plus hours a week and commuting to Arvada from Pine. I was home with our twin boys and we were living paycheck to paycheck and never spending time together as a family. When knew that owning our own business would change the way our family was living, it would give us some of that much-needed family time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle would be being a woman in a construction-oriented business. I feel as a woman in the construction world, we need to go above and beyond to have any and all types of certifications just to be seen as equal.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Denver Amramp – what should we know?
We make life accessible! We install handicap ramps (temporary or permanent), vertical platform lifts, and stairlifts. We also do full ADA home modifications.

 Think of our ramps like a giant steel erractor set for adults 🙂 Our ramps can be rented for a few days or purchased and used as a permanent structure. The nice thing with our ramps is that there are no permits needed and we make no modifications to your home or business when installing the ramp. We can install a ramp for you on a Friday and take it out on Monday and you would never know it was there.

 What sets us apart, is being a small business and running it ourselves, our turn around time, we can have a ramp installed for you in less than 48 hours. This means the world to someone when they are trying to come home from the hospital, or rehab, or just trying to get access to the outside world.

 We also will work with people to purchase a ramp, if the price isn’t in your budget, we do have a rent to own program, no application needed, we will take 75% of monthly rental price and put it towards the purchase price of your ramp.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I feel like woman need to think outside of the box a little bit more. Before running Denver Amramp, I was a golf professional, another career in a man’s world. I feel like with a little hard work and a lot of determination, women can be well positioned for any career in the world.
