Today we’d like to introduce you to Keele Burgin.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Keele. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Here is the summary of my book Wholly Unraveled and below is my bio.
Sometimes, all that it takes to start over is the courage to say you will.
In Kathleen’s home, red jeans were a sin. Parties were punishable with violence. Fear was part of the daily norm. Growing up in a Catholic cult, under the unforgiving eye of her abusive father, Kathleen knew from an early age that if she were to survive, she’d have to do it on her own.
But when the time came to escape, she found herself in a damaging spiral of self-destruction. At rock bottom, and with nowhere to go, Kathleen stepped off a bus in the last place she ever thought she’d find peace: a remote community in rural Canada. Spending a year in almost complete silence, Kathleen feared this experience would prove to be just another step in her unraveling. Instead, with her demons quieted, she emerged with a fresh understanding of self, an empowering new purpose, and a sense of worthiness that she would never let be challenged again.
Wholly Unraveled is Keele Burgin’s gripping and inspiring journey of self-discovery and of finally finding her voice against nearly insurmountable odds.
Keele Burgin Bio
Keele Burgin is an entrepreneur, activist, mother of three, and author. Her story of survival and self-discovery has inspired a life dedicated to impacting tens of thousands of women across the globe. She has served in leadership roles on the boards of multiple nonprofit organizations that empower women.
Keele made her mark in the business world by co-founding two companies, taking her first one public. Her second, (B)Tribes, a venture out of her hometown of Boulder, Colorado, is designed to help women rearchitect their lives by relinquishing the patterns of behavior that hold them back.
Has it been a smooth road?
I have had tremendous struggles in life and in turn, I have a great deal of empathy. I was raised in a catholic cult where women had no voice. I have healed from physical, mental and sexual abuse and have used my experience to help others.
To the young women, I urge you, through the hardest moments of life, believe in the resilience and power of the human spirit. Don’t waste time dwelling on the negative, it creates more of the same. Find and cultivate other women friends, they are imperative to get you through the ups and downs. Cry when you need to and then start laughing, it really works.
I want young women to embrace the fact that life is messy and one thing that they can absolutely 100% count on is that it will not go according to their plan. And that is a gift,
Tell your stories, especially the ones you don’t want to say out loud, those are the ones that are consciously or unconsciously affecting your everyday decisions. When we tell those stories we begin to release the shame, fear, pain, and guilt and collectively we begin to heal.
We’d love to hear more about Wholly Unraveled.
I am proud of my ability to monetize an asset in business. I started a strategic marketing company, grew it to $35 million in three years, got acquired and took it public. It was an incredible ride.
But I have to say writing my book, Wholly Unraveled, was a far bigger triumph for me!! I faced the pain, wrote my story and decided to put it out in the world. It has given me immeasurable gifts, amazing connections with others who have had similar stories or know someone who has and it has made me braver.
I am incredibly proud to have founded (B)Tribes. We curate tribes of twelve women who go on an individual and collective journey where they are guided and challenged to identify and relinquish the patterns that don’t serve them.
With the wisdom they have accrued, the intuition that resides inside and (B)’s unique approach, they re-architect the life they were meant to live and help their tribe to do the same. I have been so blessed to watch the radical transformations.
I built (B) with the fundamental knowledge that we are all ‘teacher’ and we are all ‘student’. We come together as a group, own our stuff, keep each other accountable and encourage intense growth. When a woman finds/uses her voice, she will change the world around her.
We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
Follow your knowing.
Do not try to act male, embrace your feminine. We are so powerful just the way we are.
Follow your intuition – even if it doesn’t make sense at the moment.
Believe that whatever it is you desire is already happening.
YOU ARE WORTHY.
