Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Sheahan.
Kimberly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In early 2016 I had my first “dizzy” spell and over the course of the year this one spell multiplied into a variety of symptoms with no diagnosis. I became fairly house bound and unable to do much of anything because simply walking and standing were incredibly difficult after a few months. Finally, in December I received a diagnosis of vestibular migraines and set about finding how to get better. All of the doctors I met with essentially told me I was screwed. They could give me some medicine to help with the severity of it, but really nothing they could actually do. At 32 they pronounced my life as over. This was unacceptable to me and I turned to alternative health methods to find relief.
My friend referred me to an alternative practice that used Proprioceptive-Deep Tendon Reflex® (P-DTR) and Cellular Release Therapy® (CRT). P-DTR is a manual therapy that can help reset the body physically, so that it can function properly again. The initial relief I felt after just one appointment of P-DTR was astounding. I had no real hope when I walked in the door, and when I walked out I felt I actually had a chance at a normal life again.
For me, P-DTR was just a band-aid for everything going on physically. I learned that my symptoms were psychosomatic, and I really needed to address my mental health to truly heal or else all of my physical issues would just keep returning. My body had broken down as a result of the build-up of life trauma that was not being addressed. Cellular Release Therapy® allowed me to heal at the subconscious level. CRT is a form of hypnotherapy that allows someone to clear trauma and painful experiences, without having to remember or re-experience them. I had tried forms of talk therapy over the years with little success at helping me to make changes in my life and mental health.
CRT has a wide variety of issues it can help with. I was able to address anything that I had perceived as traumatic in my life. Once the initial top layer of trauma was cleared we were able to start tackling the physical symptoms. With CRT you can clear away the cause for physical symptoms and then direct the brain to heal the affected body system or part. As we did this in my sessions my physical symptoms faded away. I regained my ability to function and am able to lead a healthy, physical active lifestyle.
It turns out my doctors were right in one way, my old life was over. I moved from a life of pain and negativity to a life of love, kindness and healing. Due to the profound affect CRT had on my life, I began to study it and get certified to practice CRT. In 2018 I launched my practice Focused Healing and now help others to release their trauma and lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.
Has it been a smooth road?
My biggest struggle was with and against myself. I found a lot of negative beliefs nestled deeply in my subconscious. That I wasn’t good enough; feeling like a fraud; a lot of self-hatred. From the time I was conceived society began to impress upon me what it meant to be female. The expectations it had for my life; how I was meant to act and be. Luckily with CRT I was able to clear these out as they popped up, so that I could continue to move forward. I knew that this was my life purpose and nothing was going to stop me from living it, not even myself.
I also, struggled physically for a while. I kept comparing myself with where I had been before I was ill, rather than seeing all the progress I had made after being ill. It turns out it takes time to physically re-build a body after you were a forced couch potato. I now focus on expressing gratitude for what I am able to do and knowing that as I continue to heal I will get stronger and stronger physically.
My best advice for women is to surround yourself with people who are supportive of you; someone who will cheer you on and lift you up, rather than knock you down. Society has portrayed us as spiteful, manipulative drama queens and we’re not. There are plenty of women out there who will love you and help you up rather than keep you down. Over the course of my healing journey those who were not supportive have faded from my life and I am now surrounded by amazing people who help me succeed.
Allowing those who are not healthy for us to leave our lives is one of the hardest challenges we face. What they reflect to us is really the beliefs we hold about ourselves in our subconscious. We don’t walk away from those who harm us, because we believe we deserve it. Finding a way to release these negative beliefs is the best thing you can do for yourself. And when you do, you’ll be amazed at the wonderful people who will walk into your life to replace the negative ones.
We’d love to hear more about Focused Healing.
I am a psychotherapist and I primarily specialize in using Cellular Release Therapy® (CRT) a form of hypnotherapy that allows you to release the trauma stored in your body and subconscious. The theory behind CRT is that the subconscious mind resides in every cell of the body, and the cells are continuously programmed from the moment of conception. As traumatic experiences, internal conclusions and beliefs about the self that result from life experiences accumulate over the years, at some point it can make perfect sense to the subconscious mind to create an illness or imbalance of some sort in the body, mind or emotions.
The amazing part is that this form of therapy can help whether or not you can consciously remember an event because CRT® enables you to access and work with the subconscious mind, which holds all of the memories from all life events. The subconscious knows exactly how to completely heal the body, mind and emotions, and because it has no volition, as such, it must be directed to do so. During Cellular Release, specific questions, suggestions and directions, are used in a very specific sequence, to guide you to release and clear not only the painful or difficult experiences, but also the beliefs and fears these experiences engendered. After these have been cleared, you do not lose the memories or the experiences, only the emotional charge or pain they created. You are then free to make healthier and more satisfying life choices, and live a happier, more fulfilling life.
Some of the major things this type of work can help with are:
• Emotional Trauma
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Relationship Issues
• Chronic Pain
• Addictions
• Weight Loss
• Eating Disorders
• Smoking
• Depression
• Anxiety and Stress
• Feeling stuck or that your current form of therapy is not helping any more
I think what most sets me apart is that I myself am an amazing example of how profoundly this work can impact a life and the kinds of changes you can see from it. I could barely walk a few years ago and I held countless negative beliefs about myself, the world and everything around me. By simply putting in the time to clear out the “bugs” in my programming I was able to re-write my life. Every day I live more fully in a state of love and kindness helping to raise those up around me. We don’t have to live in a pit of negativity, or how society tells us we should live. We actually have the power to make real, lasting changes. And I love that I get to help others in the way I was helped.
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Being yourself is my best advice when networking and finding a group that allows and appreciates you being authentic. Don’t try to force a group or networking style just because you are told it is the “best”. Listen to your intuition and trust yourself. Last year I almost joined a networking group that was all wrong for me simply because my conscious mind was trying to tell me the exposure should result in lots of clients. Inside it felt completely wrong and I knew I was forcing it. Luckily I listened to that voice and instead found a group where I have no fears about being myself and am accepted as I am. I have no doubts that this group will help me to build my business in a way more suited to me than the group I almost joined.
When looking for a mentor, find someone who is where you want to be and as you grow look to find new mentors, or to generally have a team of mentors. People who are at the different stages of business growth and can tell you what did and didn’t work for them. It can be good to have people outside your field in addition to someone within. Having a different industry perspective will allow you to try things people within your industry may never have thought to do.
