Today we’d like to introduce you to Latashia Glover.
Latashia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well let’s see, I began my career back in 2010 when I founded my first non-profit organization Single Parents United Corp (SPU) in my hometown of Cleveland, OH. I then became a contributing author of the book series Confessions of a Welfare Mom Volumes 1 and 2 which tell the stories of how I managed life during and after the relationship with my son’s father. I am also a community activist, a public speaker and an advocate for domestic violence.
In 2013, I created my second Non-Profit Organization in which I recently just relocated here to Denver called Girl On Fire International Inc. GOFI celebrates entrepreneurship of men, women, and children by way of our annual awards shows. We are currently working on expanding the organization so that we can begin hosting shows in different cities.
2017 is when I created my newest business venture Enfatu’ated Lux which is a hair extension and wig line catered to everyone. Enfatu’ated Lux is definitely my labor of heartbreak and new love. December 31, 2015, I married someone whom I believed loved me and who I thought I was in love with. He was very abusive… verbally, mentally and physically. When I decided to walk away from this person, I went through alot of different phases while trying to reinvent myself… which startedwith me needing to forgive myself for allowing the hurt and pain to continue for as long as it did.
One of the things that I came to understand about my marriage is that I never really loved him…I was infatuated but definitely not in love with him… he was handsome and I knew that other women wanted him but he chose me and that was all I needed to say I do at that time. i was convinced that he was the love of my life and despite him being abusive in every way imaginable his apologies always seemed to make it right in my mind. However, I now know and understand what Real Love is, i recently reconnected with my first love who I’ve known since the age of 14. It’s funny how life works though because even within my new siruation its just different. The feelings, the emotions, all of it is just different. He’s everything that I need and more plus he’s sexy which is never a bad thing..am I right Ladies?
This is what the brand Enfatu’ated Lux represents, the concept that what we see through our eyes is not necessarily what we need in our hearts. I can never be in love with a hairstyle, a wig or a piece of clothing because in some form they will change and not make you feel like the first time you wore or put them on, however what drew me to them is how the initial look of things attracted me to them or infatuated me enough to gravitate towards them, leading me to feel like they would make me look good on the outside.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has absolutely not been a smooth road for me. I struggle with PTSD and also Depression from the trauma of the abuse. I find it hard to get out of bed some days. However, Enfatu’ated Lux keeps me busy and in the process I’ve met some of the most amazing people here and have made connections that have been impeccable. Enfatu’ated has been featured in several editorials in national and international magazines in its short time of being established and I feel completely blessed and honored to be apart of something so amazing. The advice I would give to the next Trailblazer is to consider the thought that someone actually believes in you to call you out as such, go through the process, and keep winning! And even when you feel like you’ve reached the lowest point just know that’s not where you have to stay! I’ve been homeless, living out of my car with my children, sleeping in scumbag motels when I could afford it and washing up in McDonalds bathrooms even with my own family here in Denver who wouldn’t allow me or my children to sleep on their couch. I didn’t let those things stop me because if they had not happened then I probably would be less thankful for my journey. Make enough room for your doubters to bring a chair and have a seat, several to let them know it didn’t stop you. Let your heart guide you through to your passion, however use your mind and intuition when choosing who to share your ideas with and definitely remain focused .The gravitation to others will lead you to what you feel is right which can sometimes be your blessing or your curse… lol, however just take your time when making decisions… it will definitely save you from many disappointments.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Enfatu’ated Lux Extensions and Wigs – what should we know?
Enfatu’ated Lux Extensions and Wigs specializes in providing high quality hair extensions and wigs to the public. We have also worked with several of Denver’s hottest models, photographers, hairstylists, and makeup artists as the hair or wig provider for many photoshoots which we definitely plan to continue. What we have recently begun doing is auctioning off the wig units used during previous photoshoots and donating the funds to a domestic violence advocacy program. I feel like DV awareness kind of gets pushed to the side until something tragic happens. I was one of the lucky ones who was able to get out when I did, however some are not. Being an advocate I will definitely continue to tell my story and also do anything I can to help someone else.
Enfatu’ated Lux is also branching out into other areas clothing, shoes, jewelry and of course, more hair, lol, as we transition to becoming Denver’s #1 Wholesale Distributor for hair and accessories. We also have our first boutique opening in 2020. I’m definitely excited about that.
Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
I’m always so busy I don’t really get a chance to watch television or to read books. I love music though so more than likely you’ll catch me listening to some old school RnB or 90’s music. I love all genres of music honestly, It shapes my mood for the day and is great therapy.
