Meet Trailblazer Louise Volpe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Louise Volpe.

Louise, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, I think this happens to a lot of women but it’s not talked about much. I had a wonderful husband, two fantastic children, a full-time job in a company I loved, but I just felt ‘blah’.  Why was I feeling so unfulfilled?!

I finally realized I wasn’t doing anything for me. Everything I did was for my family or for my job, but I was always on the back-burner. I decided to start taking care of myself first, even if it was just for 30-minutes a day, and began to focus on my health and fitness.

It didn’t take me long to figure out that I liked working on myself but the real satisfaction and feeling of pride came from helping others and developing a business. One of my own that I could grow, and earn money from, while still working my full-time job.

As I heard back from women who were part of my accountability group, I also realized people often overlook how important a positive mindset is to really enjoying life so I focused on my own. I flipped from being a glass half empty to a glass half full person and celebrated little wins every day. This change in mindset set the tone for the past few years and was huge in helping me get through a very difficult time in early 2016 when my son was diagnosed with autism. I often say I don’t know how I would’ve gotten through those first few months of the unknown without this change in mindset.

Now, daily ‘me-time’, a positive outlook, running my monthly accountability groups and growing my business by showing other women how to do this too, brings me so much satisfaction and joy! I wake up every day, aware there may be challenges, but know I’m prepared and capable of overcoming them.!

Has it been a smooth road?
There are always struggles in any venture that you start. Naysayers, unkind people, those who don’t want to see the ‘new’ (and happier!) you! My best advice is to ignore them! Do what you need to do and see any unkind comments as water under the bridge! As Rachel Hollis says “what other people think of you is none of your business.”

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
As a health, fitness, and wellness coach, I help people (mostly women but some men too!) with their workouts, nutrition, positivity, self-care, and self-belief. I’m a firm believer that there is strength in a team. I’m also a firm believer that, as a mom or a full-time worker, you don’t need to neglect yourself because of a busy schedule. I’m here as a motivator, someone to hold you accountable, someone you can chat to or get to know. Even though women can be busy as hell with never a minute to themselves, they can still be lonely and feel as though they don’t have a purpose. I’m here to show them it doesn’t have to be that way.

Which women have inspired you in your life?
I’m inspired by so many women. Women who have blazed trails in medicine, science, politics, sports, business. Those who have taken a path that’s different from the norm. They are women in my family, community, in the news, everywhere; all you need to do is take a quick look around and you’ll always find a woman to inspire you.
