Meet Trailblazer MacKenzi Knight

Today we’d like to introduce you to MacKenzi Knight.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my business when I was just seventeen years old. I picked up my first professional camera and instantly fell in love. I started out doing portraits for friends and eventually my clientele base grew and grew. I now work in Denver, Phoenix and Austin capturing weddings, engagements, portraits and all life events.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As a business owner, it gets tough balancing business and life. I’m a full-time college student getting ready to go to law school and also a mom to a five months old little boy. I recently was able to quit my other job and officially went full time with my business. My advice would be to turn your passion into a business. People want a business owner with heart, passion and love.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about MacKenzi Knight Photography – what should we know?
I emphasize that I am a photographer for life’s biggest moments. Engagement, Weddings, Labor and Delivery, Newborn, Senior and Family portraits are all my main focuses. I love building life long clients so I can capture their family grow. I’ve captured many couples from their first engagement photos with me to the birth of their babies. I truly love to connect with every person I meet, they are trusting me with some of the most intimate moments in their lives.

We’re interested to hear your thoughts on female leadership – in particular, what do you feel are the biggest barriers or obstacles?
In my industry especially, I feel like women do not uplift each other as much as we should. Being a photographer in a very saturated market makes for a lot of competition. Put the competition aside we should all be supportive and uplifting to every creative we meet.
