Meet Trailblazer Masha Zvereva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Masha Zvereva.

Masha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
To be honest, I never knew what kind of career I wanted to have and ended up defaulting to the same degree that my parents got. I got an Undergraduate degree in Economics (which didn’t excite me at all) and then a Masters degree in Marketing and Market Research (which was more exciting, but I still didn’t know what to do).

As a fresh graduate with a Marketing degree, I needed to stand out from the crowd in order to be more employable, so I decided to learn how to code and started my blog to document my journey. That was back in August 2015, so almost four years ago!

I didn’t take it seriously at the time, in fact, I got a job offer at Google soon after that. But two years later, I’ve finally registered it as a business and started monetizing it while running it part-time. And now, I’m full-time on my blog, creating my own path and enjoying every moment of it!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I used to wait for perfect timing, plan, idea, etc. – and that held me back a lot because things will never be truly perfect. So, my main advice for anyone would be to just start. Make the first step and accept the fact that it won’t be perfect, but it will be huge progress already!

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I run a blog called Coding Blonde – about technology and women in tech. But I’m not an expert in tech, I’m developing my knowledge and skills as I go!

My expertise is in marketing and content strategy, which I’ve used so far to create my business.
I’ve also recently realized how far I’ve come in that regard and started a separate blog for anyone who is hoping to convert their blog into business themselves! So yes, I wear multiple hats and I’m loving this journey. 🙂

Which women have inspired you in your life?
My mother and the female inventors in tech (for example Grace Hopper). They’ve influenced me in different ways but mostly gave me strength and motivation to never give up. 🙂
