Meet Trailblazer Natasha Tuccitto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Tuccitto.

Natasha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Weddings really just fell into my lap, I planned and coordinated my first wedding thirteen years ago. It was my niece’s wedding and my sister basically just told me to do it, I didn’t plan another wedding for six years. My background is in hospitality, restaurants and then salon coordination, I got pretty good at managing chaos. In 2013, I helped a friend with her wedding and then another friend and then I just started getting asked to do weddings for other people, in 2017, it became clear that my little hobby had become something more and I formed Sugar Willow Events. Now, I am in my seventh wedding season and Sugar Willow has become a wedding brand for adventurous couples that value the experiences of love and life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For me, the hardest part was owning my awesomeness, I would downplay what I was doing. When people would ask what I was up to I would say nothing, it’s just a hobby or I would just make myself and my business seem small. It has taken me a long time to own up to the fact that what we do is awesome! I think as a mom/wife/business owner, I felt like I was devaluing one of these rolls by building another up. It is not easy doing all of the things and the hardest part is accepting that no one can do it all perfectly all of the time.

For anyone starting this journey, I would say find strong women that inspire you to be better, creatively, spiritually, physically, whatever it is that really jazzes you. Too often, we get caught in this circle of comparison and competition when really if we stop and look at we can learn from each other those feelings of not good enough, jealousy and anxiety would be replaced with a sense of community.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sugar Willow Events – what should we know?
We create weddings and events for adventurous people, our clients typically care about their guests’ experience and making everyone feel like they are a part of their big day. When I first talk to a client and they tell me that they want everyone to feel special, I know that they are my kind of people. My design style is definitely elegant bohemian, we get a lot of couples looking for elegant rustic too which I think is so Colorado and as a Colorado native, I love that we are known for that style. My team all have a similar personality type, we like to call ourselves Type-A casual. We get stuff done but have fun doing it.

We are known for going above and beyond, this is something that is incredibly important to me. I feel like customer service is becoming a lost art. It is so important that we treat everyone like this is the biggest day of their life, even if they are just a guest at one of our events we want them to feel special. We want everyone we work with to know that we see them and value them even if they are just a random plus one at a wedding.

I am so proud of our team, I know that they represent Sugar Willow and our values every day!

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well-positioned for?
Women multi-task so naturally, not that men don’t but we as women just rock it a little bit better. Our culture puts so many roles on women and we put that on ourselves and each other. We just have to figure out how to do all of the things and we do them. It can truly be a gift, it makes us great for leadership positions and I think that often our many roles hold us back when they should be pushing us forward.
