Meet Trailblazer Nicole Knauer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Knauer.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
If someone told me 16 years ago that in 2017, I would retire from owning my thriving hair salon and become a Health and Spiritual Coach who offers private yoga classes, energetic healing sessions, and angel card readings, I would have had a hard time believing them. I thought being behind a chair was my destiny.  How on Earth would I be able to practice my dream for a living?

As a life long entrepreneur, I always had my hands in something new, but the consistent and dependable basis of my income was always hair styling. I had the blessing of owning an in-home salon for 14 years. My incredible husband refurbished our two car garage and created a beautiful spa-like setting to offer hair cuts, color, and waxing. I gave 5-star service that included a scalp, neck, and shoulder massages, foot soaks with foot and leg massage during color processing. I love to pamper and serve others. It is truly my passion and joy to do so. Having the salon in my home gave me the ability to work part-time, be available to my two young sons, and have the best of both worlds. Working Mom who has the flexibility for her family. My guests came to me for their hair, but they usually came back for more than the cut or color. I made every appointment an event for each person. I became their friend, therapist, and confidant.

Working in a private space allowed my psychic gifts to explode, You see, much like The Long Island Medium, I am able to talk to people who have crossed to The Other Side. While I would be massaging someone’s hands, I would begin to see visions in my mind’s eye of someone I had never met. Then I would get specific messages and details to give to that person, and it would blow their ever loving minds. This also happens without touching someone. Spirits know when someone is “open” and will use me like a cell phone to deliver a loving message. I do find that it is more intense and detailed during an Angel Card Reading when both of us are focused on receiving. It also allows me to protect the reading from negative energy.

My life has been hugely impacted by using natural alternative methods in healing. I have always loved aromatherapy, teaching others how to use essential oils for mood support, and to make their own skincare products and perfumes without chemicals. The piece I was missing was the phenomenal health benefits and support they offer on a deeper healing level. Young Living Essential Oils came into my world about 8 years into my salon ownership. They changed my families lives and I had to share it with my clients. When I used them I felt even better, my spiritual connections were stronger, my family didn’t get sick as often, we stopped using pharmaceuticals and began to detoxify our lives and our home thanks to all of the products, oils, and supplements. Before I knew it, I had 170 members with their own accounts ordering and trying it for themselves. The first time I received a paycheck from Young Living, I was scared to cash it thinking it was a mistake. I didn’t sell a thing! I just told people about it, let them try mine, and they wanted their own. It was not a mistake, and it was the beginning of my new life and new freedom. I studied the compensation plan and was blown away and decided to go all in.

Now, understand, I also had several other reasons to leave the business. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease at the age of 44. I fainted in my driveway, landed on my chin, broke five teeth and fractured seven others. That was the beginning of the end. I found a doctor who finally asked me about my bathroom habits. She ran the tests that led to the endoscopy, colonoscopy and final diagnosis. My life was spent going to doctors just to be misdiagnosed. Severe joint pain, infertility, polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, precancerous cervical tissue, skin rashes, acne, and many other symptoms explained away by genetics, workplace hazards, and being a busy mom. Once my diet changed, so did my life. I now live a life not designated by needing a bathroom nearby, no joint pain, and no skin issues.

The decision to retire from my styling career was not taken lightly and it was extremely painful to break up with people who became part of my life and were like family. Getting out of chemicals, having more time to prepare foods and shop due to my Celiac Disease and 18 other food allergies, and finally to have more time to dedicate to helping others in my new career where all major components in deciding to retire from the business.

Our new home is a blessing for all of our family. It has the garage of my husband’s dreams, a cozy space for my treatments and readings, as well as a small yoga studio for my private classes. I am the yoga instructor for the Colorado State University Women’s D1 Softball team. I have availability to take new clients and would love to work more with teams. Deep stretching to open the hips, shoulders, and create flexibility is part of the class, but I also include guided meditations for focus, self-esteem, and channeling energy to overcome anxiety. My private yoga classes range from one on one beginners who are intimidated by going into a studio, to husband and wife bonding experiences.

Teaching others about essential oils is another passion. I offer customized classes to suit your particular needs such as pregnancy, pets, detoxifying your home, emotional support, and coaching on supplements that will improve your overall health.

Some of my future goals include offering wholistic retreats that will include yoga, energetic healers with different options to explore, guided meditations and healthy meals, of course, One of my dreams is to have a retreat for young children and teens who are psychic and need mentorship. I do have a few clients currently I work within a private setting. Our world is awakening, and so are those with distinct, yet confusing gifts. To have someone help them navigate through the emotions, teach them to set boundaries, and just be there with a non-judgmental heart.

As you can see, there are many facets of my personality and many different things I have to offer. I feel extremely blessed to be able to focus my energy on helping others, supporting their health journey, and also being a confidant and friend. A work in progress, my journey is always evolving and changing, and so is yours.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been rough. I will not lie. Sometimes just figuring out what your calling is, and how to make it really happen, is the hardest part. Unfortunately, finance is usually another obstacle for many women. I am fortunate to have support in that realm, which made it easier to decide to follow my dreams. However, there are many days I miss the financial wealth I left behind with doing hair. It was very secure and consistent. With my new career, consistency is the hardest part. Wanting to help people who do not prioritize their health can be very frustrating. I find myself longing for that power of independence that came with having a good income.  To overcome this, I have found that leaning into my husband’s loving protection and his ability to provide financially for us, has opened the pathways for more business to energetically come into my life.  Sometimes we surround ourselves with so much anxiety and fear, that we are literally holding the door shut for new and better things to come in.  Unfortunately, the vortex of fear and negative energy has a lot of power.  My suggestion would be to create a shift into positive thinking, take care of yourself, and use your feminine power to create a vortex to bring positive light into your life.  “Worrying is praying for something you do not want.” That has been a great life changing quote I have used a lot lately.  I am so blessed that my husband supports me in every way and I know that with hard work, persistence, and dedication, I will make this new career as successful and even more.

As my story explains, I offer many services… I believe that EVERYbody will benefit from practicing yoga. I cater to the person who is intimidated by going into a studio for their own reasons. When I work with sports teams and private one on one classes, I add guided meditation to the class after deep stretching. This helps them to focus energy, have tools to divert anxiety into positive energy and to increase self-esteem and self-love. Having my 200 Registered Yoga Teacher certification and being a practitioner of 25 years gives me much insight into the benefits of the yoga lifestyle.

Young Living Essential Oil classes and support include specifics like pregnancy, pets, supplements, athletic recovery and pre work out regiments, emotional supplementation, journaling classes and usage for ailments like PTSD, ADD, depression, anxiety and more. Having been to 3 International Conventions, attending many seminars led by doctors and specialists, having visited the Mona Farm four times, and self-exploration of knowledge gives me the ability to communicate effectively and provide safety to my clients.

As a diagnosed Celiac patient I can also offer help in shopping for foods, suggesting food swaps, and giving the emotional support needed for such a socially debilitating disease. Many people are unaware of the impact it has on your daily life. I am here to listen and support people in similar situations.

Energetic Healing touch sessions include personalized essential oils for specific needs wether emotional or physical. Sessions range from 60 – 90 minutes and are reasonably priced. An Angel Card Reading my spontaneously occur during these sessions, or you may wish to book just reading without hands-on healing. These are Arch Angel Oracle cards that give specific information to questions or concerns one may have to navigate their future and present time. My training in Energetic Healing touch and practicing for 15 plus years I can intuitively create a solution for people seeking help outside or in addition to pharmaceutical options.

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a mentor is crucial in our world. There are many ways to connect with other people with like-minded interests. In Fort Collins, we are very lucky to have things like The Recreator that offers hundreds of classes, most free or low cost from every facet of interest. What we are lacking most in this day and age is direct face to face connections with other people. Joining your local yoga studio, gym, or other healthy hang out and get involved in the extra offerings like outdoor field trips and fun brews and bikes activities to meet others is a great way to network.  Most cities offer FAC (Friday Afternoon Club) activities with their Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, or other business network communities.
