Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga Textoris, APRN, FNP-C.
Olga, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Sevastopol, Ukraine, moved to Brighton, CO in 2001, and have been residing there with my family since then. I quickly realized that opportunities for success in this country are limitless if you believe in yourself and work hard. I started my career in the healthcare field as a Certified Nursing Assistance but always worked on bettering myself, improving my skills, and furthering my education. Over the years, I have practiced in different capacities (Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Family Nurse Practitioner). I have worked in a variety of clinical settings with a diverse client population.
It has always been my passion to empower my clients to become the best versions of themselves, to heal their minds, bodies, and spirits, and to achieve the highest level of well-being possible. Unfortunately, I frequently have felt unable as a nurse and nurse practitioner to fully assist my clients in their pursuit of better health, true healing, and resolution of chronic medical conditions in the conventional medicine environment for two reasons: (1) our medical paradigm is not well-suited to tackle chronic disease and (2) our model for delivering care and restrictions placed on healthcare practitioners by insurance companies do not support the interventions most impactful on preventing and reversing chronic diseases.
Several years ago, I discovered Functional Medicine, an approach to healing that focuses on the whole person and addresses the root causes of the disease. I realized that the Functional Medicine approach to care is the best way to empower my clients to achieve the ultimate level of health and well-being. In 2019, I decided to change the course of my career and to follow my passion and commitment to truly support my patients in their pursuit of becoming the best versions of themselves. And that is how and why WellPath Integrative Medicine, LLC was born.
Has it been a smooth road?
Of course, it was not a smooth road. I truly believe that when life is not challenging you, you are not growing. I look forward to challenges as, for me, it means that I am accomplishing something bigger, fulfilling my life mission, and growing as a human being and as a medical professional. Advice that I would give to other women includes avoiding giving in to mediocrity and to set your goals high and pursue them with passion. Never give up – the world around you needs you, and you are here for a reason.
I do know firsthand that setting big, hairy, and audacious goals (BHAG) can be daunting and scary. My recommendation is to break down those BHAG into steps that can be turned into yearly, quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals. Plan out your goals for the next week on your calendar and make them your priorities. This means to schedule the rest of your life around the tasks that would bring you closer to achieving your BHAG and not the other way around. Get up a couple of hours earlier if you have to, stay late at night if you have to, but never give up on making progress toward becoming who you are meant to become.
We’d love to hear more about WellPath Integrative Medicine.
WellPath Integrative Medicine is an integrative family medicine practice, meaning that we offer both conventional and alternative evidence-based approaches to medicine.
The core philosophy of our medical practice is simple: the human body has an amazing ability to maintain its own health when we provide it with the right types of healthy signals (lifestyle inputs). While the name we give to chronic disease often depends on the organs or tissues involved, the chronic dysfunction involved in each condition is ultimately caused by the presence of harmful signals that overwhelm tissues’ ability to self-heal and/or the absence of healthy signals that promote tissue recovery and well-being. Our healing model is designed to help protect all tissues and organs.
In collaboration with our clients, we design treatment plans that are highly personalized and based on our clients’ unique goals, health status, and lifestyle. We are partners with one same goal in mind: to empower you to become the best version of yourself so you can live your life to the fullest, with passion, in a healthy body, and with a clear mind. We support our clients in expressing their best selves by providing structure, developing a plan of action, ensuring they have the tools and resources they need to succeed, and guiding and supporting them on the way.
