Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Czeczok.
Precious, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hello! My name is Precious Czeczok and I am the Owner of The Hair Fetish Experience in Aurora, CO. When I graduated high school, I originally attended school for Criminology, but then realized my passion for hair superseded my love for Criminology. My passion for hair stems from my family. I am a third-generation hairstylist and entrepreneur. My grandmother, Dr. Martha B. Hayes, created and designed the world’s first Human Hair Weaving Dress and my mother Gwen Nava was the owner of Rumors Beauty Salon and Barbershop in Aurora, CO. These women have helped mold me into the woman I am today. They taught me that every direction in life is not necessarily wrong or right, just different. They also helped me to understand that everyone’s journey, including mine, is something to embrace and respect. Prayer, training and staying educated on the most advanced techniques have helped me become an innovator for the industry and realize my lifelong dream of owning a storefront salon.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
All my successes and accomplishments are credited to my belief in God. He is what keeps me balanced. In my life, He is the driver and I am the passenger. The obstacles in life make me stronger and help me never limit myself. I keep pushing forward with whatever He has planned for me. I also read and listen to motivational speakers to keep me encouraged. My advice to young women is to believe in yourself and your abilities. People are sometimes scared to think outside the box and not evolve as a stylist. Also, remain open-minded and be willing to take constructive criticism. To have what you want in life, you cannot settle for mediocrity. Create your YOU!
We’d love to hear more about The Hair Fetish Experience.
I am grateful to have an extraordinary team of stylists at The Hair Fetish Experience. I pride myself on having a very diverse clientele/team. I love doing the hair of all textures, along with keeping the health my first priority. Also, I enjoy teaching and mentoring other stylists.
I have been a part of Denver Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, helped assist numerous fashion designers and editorial work. I have also given back to the community by helping Hurricane Katrina survivors, helping our first responders, assisting with the Galas for the Colorado non-profit Building Warriors and other organizations that help others discover their inner power. I have hosted a “Battered Wife Beauty Day to help women gain their self- confidence back. I take pride in being a first responders’ wife and I understand that giving back to the community brings us all together.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
The best advice to give young women starting this career is to never doubt yourself. Be willing to have an open mind to grab all the knowledge and hands-on training that is there to be offered. Make sure you look for growth in one another. Instead of being in competition with each other, we should be supporting each other’s businesses. The biggest competition is the big corporations that overshadow the smaller ones. With them, it is more about the numbers and not necessarily about what is best for their clients. We need to motivate each other and help each other more.
