Meet Trailblazer Rachel Lubchansky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Lubchansky.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Rachel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
From a young age, I was interested in women’s empowerment and fascinated by women who changed the world.

At age 12, I wrote a speech about those women who fought for our freedoms. Women by the likes of Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, and others. As a preteen, I was inspired by their courage and strength to stand up for what they wanted and the example they set, showing me that I could be and do anything I set my mind to.

I learned this, too, from the powerful women in my family.

It was during those formative years that I learned that we are all in charge of our own success.

I guess you could say I was born an entrepreneur.

Business-building is in my genes. Shows up in my Enneagram. And long preceded any thoughts I had of starting my own business.

I launched my first business in my mid-20s in the fashion industry. It was an online boutique in a niche market before online shopping was the thing it is today.

Without a blueprint in-hand, I figured it all out on my own, with good ‘ole fashioned trial-and-error, tons of research, and seemingly endless hours of work. I proudly and joyfully grew that business to a multi-six figure business with international brand recognition and sales, and then sold it after five years (when I became pregnant with triplets!).

Fast forward to 2016 when I moved to Denver with my hubby and our trio of seven-and-a-half year olds.

I set out to start another business, though I didn’t know what it would be.

After speaking with dozens of women and having them ask me tons of questions about how I started, grew and sold that first business from the seed of an idea, I realized an opportunity to make it easier for other women to launch and grow their own businesses.

This is how REL Impact was born.

I am deeply passionate about empowering and educating ambitious entrepreneurial women with everything they need to challenge the status quo, intentionally create their future, and secure freedom and fulfillment – however they define it. Because when we’re fulfilled, happy, contributing financially and serving others in a way that fills us up — our entire world brightens. (Have you noticed how much impact and influence we have as women?)

Today, REL Impact creates content and cultivates community for women to thrive in their first years of business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.” – Colin Powell

So, you ask: Has it been smooth? No!

Like all businesses, I’ve faced several challenges in growing REL Impact. My visionary mind is constantly generating new ideas, and one of the struggles I’ve experienced has been around launching too many things at once. Rather than going deep, we went broad. And I’d actually recommend to newbies that they do the opposite.

I also launched two separate brands (almost) simultaneously which multiplied our workload specifically around marketing, leaving my team and me feeling scattered and stretched too thin. Streamlining as much as possible has helped us move past that.

Other struggles I’ve faced? Finding a feel-good work-life integration that gives me confidence that I’m right where I’m supposed to be at all times; knowing how much to invest monetarily in the business vs take home; and learning how to listen to my intuition (because it’s usually spot on).

Building a business is much like riding a roller coaster: one minute you’re up and riding high, the next moment you’re down, spinning, and losing your stomach.

The experience is not for the weak.

There are, however, some things you can do to ride it out with ease and clarity. So some of the advice I give to aspiring and new business owners include:

  • Find a “Community of Support” – those people who will teach you, inspire you, celebrate with you and hold you up through the tough times. We all need this sisterhood surrounding us and our entrepreneurial journey.
  • Invest in your own growth. The times that I’ve invested in myself by hiring a business coach or buying an online course to help me uplevel in a specific area have been when my business has soared.
  • Take time to lay the foundations. Businesses that leave the gate without fully developing their mission and vision, understanding their ideal client and who they serve, and creating a brand without strategy are the ones that struggle most. I can’t stress enough the importance of laying the foundations early on; it’s those roots that will enable bigger and faster growth.

We’d love to hear more about REL Impact.
I believe that entrepreneurship unleashes one’s greatest potential, and it is my mission as a Business Coach to empower and educate aspiring and newer entrepreneurs with everything I’ve learned about building a brand and growing a business — in a way that saves frustration, time, and money. My greatest joy comes from guiding my clients and community to activate a lifestyle of freedom and fulfillment. What makes me different is that I came into this work through a desire to help other women take charge of their life, challenge the status quo and intentionally create a life they love living after spending years building businesses and brands on my own (and having sold my first business in 2009).

Many women come to REL Impact because they have a business idea and don’t know what to do first or next, or they are eager to take things to the next level. As practitioners and service-providers, they are filled with a passion for the work they do and struggling to run a business, where they are overwhelmed and working too hard.

Through my Denver-based and online courses, I empower my clients with everything they need – from simple-to-follow processes and actionable advice to tools, resources and accountability – to launch their business and unleash the next level of success.

You asked what I’ve become known for, and I truly believe it’s about the community I keep and authenticity with which I show up. Through the events I host and community building I cultivate, there is a beautiful group of small business owners and solopreneurs who have come to rely on the space we create for them to learn practical skills, explore new tools, hear inspiring speakers and connect with other businesses and brands that propel them forward. I’m deeply honored to be surrounded by such a kind-hearted, soul-filled, ambitious and smart group of women who believe that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”

Do you recommend any apps, books or podcasts that have been helpful to you?
Yes! There are several apps/tools I couldn’t live without, specifically Acuity Scheduling and Trello. I’m a little bit obsessed with organizing #allthethings and these two tools keep everything in order.

I’m a big fan of Amy Porterfield’s podcast (Online Marketing Made Easy), NPR’s How I Built This and Design Your Dream Life with Natalie Bacon. I’ve also been actively learning more about the power of YouTube and binge-watching various trainings there.

On any given day, you can find a toppling over stack of non-fiction, business-related books on my nightstand. There’s always something to dive into and learn.
