Today we’d like to introduce you to Siri Lindley.
Siri, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was at Brown University at 18 years old, I hit the darkest time in my life. On the outside, it looked like I had it made. I was a three-sport varsity athlete in Field Hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse, and was getting really good grades. I was overwhelmed with fear and anxiety. I had developed an insane case of OCD that made me feel like a crazy person. One night, I was seriously considering how I could just check out when Tony Robbins book UNLIMITED POWER caught my attention. This book saved my life, literally. I realized on that night that my experience was up to me. We can all change our lives by changing what we focus on, the meaning we give things and what we choose to do about all of that. It woke me up, it set me on a path to find out who I was and what I was made of, and what I wanted to create in my life.
That book saved my life that night. I set out on a mission to find out who I was and what I wanted to create in my life. One of the first realizations I made was that I was gay. Great, that’s all I needed. But I was ready to embrace any truths about myself that I stumbled upon. I was desperate to find a love and appreciation for myself.
I then discovered triathlon when I was 23 years old. I fell in love with the sport at first sight. Just seeing all different sorts of people (ages, sizes, ability levels), all pushing themselves beyond what they thought they were capable of, finding themselves through the challenge of the swim, the bike and the run. I knew this sport would be the vehicle through which I would find myself. Which I really needed at that time. What made me the most unlikely champion is that I was 23 years old at this time and didn’t know how to swim!!! Triathlon at the highest levels is made up of former Olympic swimmers, bikers and runners, so this dream definitely seemed impossible.
This sport presented itself to me as a perfect vehicle to find me. Find out what I am made of. Discover my strength. Discover who I wanted to be in this world and how I wanted to live my life. It was this massive challenge that if I could bust through my fear, and my disempowering stories, would give me the confidence to believe in me and to believe in my ability to create something I could be proud of in the world.
My path to achieving this IMPOSSIBLE goal was one of completely immersing myself in the sport, modeling the very best, putting myself in proximity of people that could push me to all-new levels and help me grow and develop through the sport.
Two things needed to happen for me to achieve this dream
1. I needed to let go of being everything I thought I needed to be to make everyone else around me happy or to fit in. I needed to be fearlessly authentically me and tap into all the power within myself.
2. I needed to be willing to fail. Any road to success is going to have potholes, speed bumps, U-turns and dead ends. It is through our failures and through our disappointments that we learn and we grow the most! You must be willing to fail in order to succeed.
Eight years after setting this crazy goal, I became the Triathlon World Champion. I went on to win 13 world cup races and retired at #1 in the world in 2003.
I could have kept racing as I was still winning, but I had found what I was looking for and that was a love, and an appreciation and a respect for myself the ultimate gift.
All I wanted now was to help others overcome their fears, their anxieties and their limiting beliefs to achieve their goals and dreams. This led me into coaching, where I have had the great privilege of coaching athletes to multiple world championship crowns and Olympic medals. Mirinda Carfrae, Leanda Cave, Susan Williams, Hillary Biscay, Yvonne Van Vlerken, Rebekah Keat and Ellie Salthouse are just some of the amazing athletes I have coached to the highest successes.
I have been inducted into the USA triathlon hall of fame, the Brown University Hall of Fame, and the Boulder Co hall of fame.
I now speak around the world for Tony Robbins at his unleash the power within events, Date with Destiny, Leadership Academy and his Global Youth Leadership Summit. It is an absolute dream come true sharing my message on the stage of my greatest mentor, Tony Robbins.
I also speak for Keppler Speakers around the country with my main message being the title of my book I wrote in 2016:
Surfacing: From the Depths of Self-Doubt to Winning Big and Living Fearlessly.
I married my wife Rebekah Keat, one of the world’s best Ironman athletes from Australia, in 2015. Together we formed our non-profit Believe Ranch and Rescue a 501 © three saving horses from brutal slaughter. In just over two years, we have saved 101 horses from slaughter. Many of whom go off to serve humans through healing in equine therapy programs. Horses have proven some of the most effective healers for ADHD, Addiction, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD and have been known to be great sources of empowerment for the disabled and children with special needs. This is the most fulfilling work as we feel in saving these animals we are also bringing healing, teaching and empowerment to humans. So very blessed and thankful to do what we do.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Yes, there have been great struggles from overcoming OCD, to dealing with the rejection of my father when he found out I was gay, to failing miserably in some of my most important moments. But, what I know now is that there is a beautiful gift that comes from every struggle. I truly believe that life is happening FOR us, not TO us. It is through our greatest struggles that we often stumble across our greatest strengths. We learn and grow the most through our failures, and become capable of the success we dream of because of the progress we make from failing or falling short.
Know that the path to success, to happiness will never be smooth. Progress requires us to grow, and we grow the very most through the hardest times. So keep your head high, believe in you and know that every experience is leading you to exactly where you dream of going.
Being fearlessly authentic I believe, is a superpower. We were all put on this earth absolutely perfect just the way that we are. Where we get it wrong is when we try to be who we think we need to be, to fit in, or to get a certain job, when really, we are our most powerful when you tap into ALL of who YOU are. Firing on all cylinders and feeling the strength, the joy, the peace and the personal power that comes from being all of YOU!!
FEAR:
Fear I realize is that which mobilizes all our strength, our focus, it is a great thing. Everything amazing in life is on the other side of our fear. When you are afraid, it means that you care. It means that whatever you are about to do MATTERS to you!! If you are afraid but do it anyway, that is COURAGE. We all have courage, but it is deciding to take a chance on you, believe in YOU. Leap and the net will appear.
The more you do things that scare you, the more confidence you build in doing so, and the more you do things that scare you, the more you grow, the more you progress, the stronger you become, success becomes inevitable with that level of fearlessness.

I am so proud to be married to my amazing wife Rebekah Keat. Our greatest joy is running our 501©3 Non-Profit Horse Rescue BELIEVE RANCH AND RESCUE www.believeranchandrescue.org
We have rescued 101 horses in just over two years from slaughter. Many have gone on to heal humans through equine therapy. Some are teachers of self-awareness, overcoming fear and self-doubt, and building trust and confidence. We are in the process of trying to get the SAFE ACT passed which would make the transport of horses across country lines into Mexico and Canada ILLEGAL which would then prevent the slaughter of these beautiful healers for human consumption. This is a deeply heartfelt mission of ours that we know is having an impact on both animals and humans alike.
My goal in life is to be a gift to be a blessing to be a light in this world. To give with all my heart and soul to make a positive difference in this world.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
My incredible mom. Her beautiful heart. Her generous spirit. Her energy and vitality and commitment to being the best she can be every single day as a mom, a friend, a dog groomer, small business owner and human on this planet. She is one of the strongest women I have ever known.
My wife: I fell in love with her and fall more in love with her every single day. She is one of the most passionate, giving, energetic and kind humans on this earth. She loves me for me. Her love gives me so much strength and together I feel we can achieve anything and everything we dream of.
My mother in law, Ruth. One of the most positive and beautiful women in this world.
My 1st coach Renee Spellman.
She saw me. She heard me. She understood me. She gave me hope at a time when I felt so lost. I will always remember her as one of my greatest mentors in life.
My 1st triathlon coach Yoli Casas. one of the most powerful influences in my life: The first thing she said to me when she took me on as an athlete was ” Siri, I care much more about who you are as a human being than I will ever care about WHAT you accomplish” Being a good person will always matter the most.”
