Meet Trailblazer Vanessa Rupas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Rupas.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Vanessa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am a mother of two little girls with a passion for art in all forms. I grew up in New Mexico and Colorado Springs. I always knew I wanted to work in the salon industry and have owned Sparrow Hair Parlour for six years now.

Has it been a smooth road?
Being a salon owner/full-time stylist has not been a smooth road but it has indeed been a wonderful experience and an amazing learning process that I hope to share with other antrapanuers on their own journey. Any advice would be to not try to be your own general contractor! Ha! As far as the salon goes – it would be to separate the business from the stylish side and learn to delegate, so you don’t end up with everything on your own shoulders.

I specialize in curly cuts and color and I think all of us at Sparrow is known for the wonderful fun environment we create for everyone that walks in our door. Sparrow offers everything from hair care to skin and body care. I think making every person feel welcome is something we all focus on here. As a whole, we are constantly continuing our education to always be informed of the newest trends as well as health and safety standards in this ever-changing world!

Sparrow is an Aveda concept salon that also features the davines product line.
