Meet Trailblazer Veronica Singhaus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Singhaus.

Veronica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a Colorado native that has been behind the chair for almost two decades. I have been a salon owner from the age of 19. I have been educating and training stylists to own their own salons and be independent stylists. I love to inspire, encourage and train women to provide for themselves and families by building a strong business, The hair industry is an amazing way to connect on an intimate level and truly becomes a lifetime relationship with professionals and community. I love that I have become a major part of my client’s life for all those good, bad and ugly chapters of life. Graduation, marriage, first dates, new jobs, Holidays, divorce, funerals, seasons changing and some good old fashioned HAIR-IPY. I have continued my education throughout the years and always look for cutting edge technology in this ever-changing industry. I have a passion for giving people their ideal look while maintaining their hair’s integrity and staying modern. I love to perfect that manageable wash and go, everyday hair. I believe less is always more. I always consider maintenance, budget, and damage when I do my consultation before every service, even when you have been a client for years. We always start on the same page and discuss what does and doesn’t work as life changes so do we. I also have a CBD company as an added Extension of my customer service. When discussing life with my clients I find many suffer from a variety of symptoms that CBD does wonders for. I am all about natural solutions and avoiding addictive pharmaceuticals. I believe helping people in any way possible is an honor.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of the hardest lessons in any industry is to stay true to yourself and run your own race. I struggled along the way at times when I focused more on what others did and ended up hating each day. The more authentic I was with what I was doing the easier it became. The more sincere I was the more I connected with people I had so much in common with. The less I worried about the money, the better job I was able to do because I was in the flow of things. The more excited I got about my work, the more I inspired my staff to give it their all. I started to focus more on what I loved and appreciated about my days only to find I got more of that. Appreciation and gratitude will definitely guide you to success.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.

Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
I was born 9/11/ 1981 to an immigrant pchitsophrinic mother and immigrant drug dealer felon father. Yes, this is the beginning of a sad and horrific childhood. My mother was an innocent, depressed and naive young woman that had followed all rules in hopes for her prince charming. When my mother and father married, it was a little fairy tale. My mother was a stunning virgin beauty that was the prize. After about two years and my older brother came to me. I was the beginning of the end to my mothers happily ever after. My memories of her were crying herself to sleep. Making us pray multiple times daily for my father to return to us. When I was four, I was left alone and playing outside unsupervised and was taken away by CPS. When I with returned to my mother, I was instructed to never get caught. I was told I would be rapped and abused in foster care. As a young girl, I learned early on to hide the neglect at all costs. It was not uncommon to not have a car. At age five, I remember walking to an attorney’s office to sign divorce papers. My brother and I waited in the lobby as my father did not want to see us. From that point on the depression got worse and many other horrible symptoms started. Suicidal attempts to zoned out hours of no communication and little interaction between us. My mother had not yet been diagnosed with her mental illness. At seven, I was fending for myself on the RTD alone daily to get where I needed to be. School, gramas house and anywhere I went really. After hiding her mental illness for 12 years of my life, my mother was finally diagnosed and treated in a mental institution. She would be in and out of the institutions from that point on. We still have this, don’t tell anyone rule. Frequently late to school, extended family and friend visits without details of our home life. Because of this, I was responsible for myself from the beginning and take accountability for my actions and always do my best.
