Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Becker.
Tyler Becker, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was a kid I used to run around in my magical world of imagination and would make potions as a wizard. Now that I’ve grown up, I’m happy to say that I have based my whole life around this idea! I want the world to see the power and magic that the plant world has for us. Most of the things we could ever need for health and wellness are provided for us by Mother Earth. I’m excited to be a conduit to help show the world all the amazing things that herbs ~ roots ~ berries ~ barks and mushrooms can do for us.
I’ve been an herbalist since I was 16 years old. I have done an immense amount of research online learning about all of the different materials we have access too. My favorite things to make are stronger blends that still taste good. So you can have access to potent elixirs that work with mood ~ cognitive performance and the metaphysical realm as well. In January 2018 I quit my job at Vestes and decided to close out my retirement fund. I took this as a very meaningful turning point in my life to follow my dreams and passions. I started crafting my blends to perfection from a retail point of view. In June of that year, I had my first event ever! I went right out the gate and joined in on VEG FEST. It was amazing to be surrounded by so many people that live their lives with the same concept. Realizing that the answer to a lot of the world’s problems is through PLANTS! It was a major success and since then my company has grown immensely.
We have launched updated packaging! We have been apart of more than 100 events since we started. Selling 1000s of bags of tea! Being able to give back directly to the community even in the first year of being open! We were able to donate 100 bags of Elder Berry to Let Your Light Shine in Brighton. An amazing non-profit organization that helps the homeless population. The goal was to help keep sickness down and from spreading. To help people that don’t have access to normal medicine and cant afford it. The reason I mention this is because this is where I see Koala Tea Vibes being able to give back along the way. When my company takes off I’m not going to be the kind of CEO that needs to buy a Ferrari or a mansion. All I want to do is travel and give back to this amazing world! I feel like the value of giving money, time and resources back is way more important than material possessions. Its something that is tangible and you can feel, that will last way past when you leave.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been some intense learning curves that’s for sure! One time the weather completely knocked over my tent and destroyed a lot of product. There were a few times where I had issues keeping my tea cold enough to where it wouldn’t spoil. Multiple attempts at online campaigns to get the word around that didn’t take off. Every time something goes wrong I take it as a sign that its something I need to invest in and change, to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I have gotten a better tent since the first incident and have invested in kegs to help keep the tea as cold as possible (without broken glass). These two updates have made vending a much smoother process. The last struggle has been trying to get an online following and that’s one I’m still trying to find the right solution too.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Here at Koala Tea Vibes we only use Koala-Tea ingredients. Everything is 100% organic and we don’t buy any low-quality ingredients to cut corners. We don’t need to add any dyes or anything synthetic. We are going back to the roots and realizing that these herbs will do what they need to by themselves. We like using stronger ingredients and blend them to taste! That way you get the effects but it still tastes good. We want to make different herbal concoctions that will help people achieve things they are trying to accomplish. In the end the big thing we want to do is share some Good Ole Koala-Tea Vibes!
What were you like growing up?
I have always been a very social person. I would interact and include everyone in! I have been a singer ever since I was a little kid and have been apart of a couple of different bands. When I was in high school I stood out from everyone else. I wasn’t apart of a specific group. I wanted to hang out with everybody ~ The nerds ~ Jocks~ Metalheads ~ Rednecks ~ Popular kids. Basically, it dosen’t matter who you are, I want to be friends. That’s something I can say about myself that I think stands out.
I’m an outdoors guy I’ve always loved hiking, biking, climbing and camping. That’s why I fit so well into Colorado. I’m really into living healthy and spiritually! I also love philosophy and the way the brain works. I also love gardening and growing my own food ~ as well as self-sustainability.
