Meet Tyler Horsley of Nuclear Networking in Denver Tech Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Horsley.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Tyler. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Tyler Horsley, Founder and CEO of Nuclear Networking has worked in technology and performance marketing for 13 years. With a BS in Criminal Justice Administration, 32 FEMA certificates, and multi-lingual capabilities, Tyler spent his first career before building Nuclear Networking working in service and federal intelligence at DHS, IRS, and federal military contracting firm.

Tyler founded Nuclear Networking in 2010. He would later bring on a partner in 2015 and grow the company over 100% year over year. He studies the landscape and positioned Nuclear Networking as a niche performance and deliverable-based marketing firm focused solely on growing his client’s businesses. He brought many former business owners on board to build an elite firm with unmatched business acumen that would allow Nuclear Networking to successfully serve investors in private equity, portfolio management, and more. SEO, live analytics reporting, and Digital advertising strategy are their core competencies.

Outside of Nuclear Networking, Tyler is an avid angel investor and has grown multiple companies including a federal court reporting firm, an ingredients company, a luxury product company, a recruiting company, and many more. Tyler has built and implemented nationally-recognized programs and efficiencies that have allowed his companies to thrive, cut costs, improve quality, and become scalable.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We have a common startup story that I am sure other founders share. We started up near Boulder, CO in a basement sleeping on bunk beds and eating ramen. At one point, we had to cut half the service deliverables and rebuild the company which was hard but motivated us to focus and specialize which would later pay off.

Nuclear Networking was built from the ground up without funding of any type. This required a lean mindset that, while at the time seemed difficult, would lead to different thinking and stronger outside-of-the-box thinking. We did not have unlimited funds to A/B test new expensive platforms and provide the best toys, we had to make do with what we had and ensure the service we provided worked well for our clients so they stayed with us.

For example, we used to manually build reports for our clients using screenshots on our iPhone, copied and pasted on a word doc and then converted to PDF. It was slow, inefficient, and took an entire day to build.

We did what we had to in order to provide the best service we were able to. A solid work-ethic (thank you, Dad,) and integrity got us through. We respected our competitors and in some cases, turned them into partners and friends. Experience has been our best teacher. It was a lot of hard work and continues to be, but was worth it!

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Since Nuclear Networking’s founder is an avid Angel Investor, Tyler has been actively working in the M&A space on Nuclear Networking’s behalf, seeking out other complementary digital and performance marketing firms in an effort to vet and absorb them into the Nuclear Networking brand. Roll-ups are the name of the game.

Create the best systems in the space, absorb other companies, and optimize them by implementing Nuclear Networking efficiencies and systems. Nuclear Networking just completed it’s a most recent merger and acquisition of a local Denver competitor in mid-2019 with plans to do five more before November 2020.
