Meet Vincent Clouse

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent Clouse.

Vincent, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My whole life, I have maintained a talent for the arts, specifically for performance and music. Hip Hop is my love, culture, and craft. Hip Hop is not something that is done as much as something that is lived. I have suffered many atrocities within my life but for the sake of being brief, I will fast forward to my release from prison after being sentenced to five years for cannabis in the state of Kansas. I was in a work-release program located in Wichita, Ks. Upon my release, I was able to purchase a car and rent a house. I began to work as an electrician. I was a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). I was laid off multiple times in a single year. I was an A student and great apprentice the only differing factor was my skin color. I had suffered indifference due to my race often during my stay in Kansas and was fed up. I began to look abroad for a more profitable and inclusive environment in order to build my career and my family.

In 2016, I made the decision to move to Denver and transfer to its branch of the IBEW. I attempted to do just that. Upon my arrival, the Union Hall here was very receptive but the Union Hall in which I left was distraught and decided to hinder my progress. The kicked me out the union and I decided to not go back. I began working as a signal tech for WL contractors here in Colorado. It was a non-union associated company. I once again would experience the same resilience and indifference. I became fed up with working for others. At this point, I decided that I would leave off of working for others and establish my own LLC based in doing what I love, where my talents are strong, I created natVson LLC, which is my artist name. I am 1-natVson-1 (Native Son) I decided to begin pushing to become an effective member or entity within Hip Hop. I accumulated all my past works. I established a solid and fluid platform across the internet inclusive of my own website. I began to do massive amounts of field study and research in regard to the Hip Hop scene here in Denver. I began to break down the venues and how to acquire gigs. I walked the city daily informing people who I was. I spoke with everyone I could about my vision and began to gain ground. I would communicate heavily using social media. I would reach out to people from my past who were currently involved in the industry to let them know I was now making an attempt to raise. I began gaining shows and respect due to my music and approach. I remained humble and diverted all my energy into my craft and the business of advance. This left me at a financial detriment. I suffered many ills but remained focused on building my vision. I remained humble and determined that I would acquire the necessary investment.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has not been smooth. Yet, my faith in THE MOST HIGH has always been strong. I have suffered homelessness due to lack of funds. I couldnt work a regular job because I needed to be available to secure the network through being present when necessary. Hip Hop is a community. The entertainment industry is based on relationships. Just as any relationship, a lack of physical presence will only destroy any chance of maintaining and growing. Another hardship has been the jealousy of others and envy experienced when gaining ground. People do there best to subject you and make you feel as though you have no worth. One must be strong and stand within their truth, know that this is the life for them and proceed. A lot of entities withhold valuable connections in order to prevent you from advancing. The key is remaining humble and thinking exponentially. You must target the people behind the people in the light in order to establish relationships over time. The biggest difficulty I have yet to master is securing due compensation or investment. It is difficult to begin generating revenue in this industry. This is why LOVE must be present. There is no GET RICH QUICK realities within this business.

What else should our readers know?
1-natVson-1 is an EMCEE… a master of ceremony. I am a master of communication and translation. We all may use the same words but we speak unique languages. I love going between these manifestations and bringing forth valuable information. I specialize in performance, hosting and motivational speaking. I am most proud as a company of the ability to sustain under an immense difficulty: DETERMINATION! What sets me apart from others is that I have actually experienced much trauma in my life and opposed to beginning hardened/rigid, I have only grown more grateful and appreciative. I have a genuine heart to improve our overall living standards and individual perceptions.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is defined by maintaining this journey. Success is not a destination as much as the journey itself. The criteria I consider varies depending on the short term goals I have set and how I process the information gained by completing or failing within these goals. I would say success is a willingness to continue. Success is rediscovering the beauty of the journey over and over as you pass specific landmarks. Success is escaping the mundane or a refusal to bow unto mediocrity. Success is to smile throughout the pain and the gain.
