Today we’d like to introduce you to Fiona Jeppson
Hi Fiona, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My first encounter with painting was as a toddler. I would be splattered in finger paints, decked out in a trash bag, as I created colorful “masterpieces” on the floor of my childhood home. My mom says I came alive during those messy times, fully immersed in the joy of creating.
In Kindergarten, I failed an eye exam so badly that the nurse thought I was joking. It turned out my vision was terrible. When I got my first pair of glasses, I was awestruck: “WOW, the world is SO beautiful!” This new perspective made me deeply appreciate the beauty around me—nature, people, colors, and more. This appreciation fueled my passion for painting; I wanted others to see the world’s beauty too.
As I grew, art became my favorite activity. In school, it was my way of expressing myself, especially during my shy years. In high school, I continued focusing on my art and experimented with various mediums, eventually falling in love with acrylics.
Despite my passion, I initially avoided a career in art, thinking it was too risky. Instead, in college I pursued communications and fashion (which in hindsight also sounds risky). Once I graduated, I started my career and went on to work in a few different fields, fashion, education, and sales enablement. During this time, my painting took a backseat. With the focus on my career, I had rarely painted in those years. It was almost as if I had lost my creative spark. I share this as a reminder that it is never too late to go after your dreams, even if they seem to have slipped away.
After a difficult trip to Mexico in July of 2023 and a transformative yoga class I started a sober curious journey that reignited my creativity. During this period of reflection, I focused on personal growth and healing. From this period, I reconnected with my creative self and started painting again. I found solace in creating a piece that felt deeply personal: a moon goddess. Empowered by its significance, I began painting moon goddesses for the inspiring women in my life, blending personal meaning with art.
Seeing how the pieces resonated with each of these women, I wondered if my work might speak to others. This gave me the motivation to launch Wildridge Moon with the intent of sharing my art, while collaborating with wellness professionals to spread healing and inspiration through creativity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I always dreamed of being a “true artist,” but I didn’t think it was achievable. Yet, as I began creating my moon goddesses, I was determined to find a way to make these available for others. Creating my art was a smooth process, it comes naturally and easily to me. However, developing the business component has been challenging. I did A LOT of research and was able to figure out how to build a website, turn paintings into fine art prints, develop packaging and fulfill orders. I’ve faced frustrations and learned a lot, especially with social media—a realm I had avoided for years. I applied as soon as I could for art festivals and partnered with Electric Cherry, a vintage store in Arvada that now showcases my work. Building my brand and connecting with other businesses and artists remains a work in progress.
The support from family, friends, and the community has been profoundly moving, fueling my gratitude and passion. Without them, it would have been a much more challenging road. I still have so much to learn in this new venture. I remind myself to celebrate every victory, big or small, like this article, as I continue to grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As an acrylic painter, I’ve explored various subjects—from people and landscapes to flowers, plants, and abstract forms. However, I truly found my calling when I began creating vibrant moon goddesses. These goddesses, adorned in bright colors and accented with sharpie, are more than just art—they’re symbols of feminine energy designed to help others embrace their inner beauty, reclaim their power, and discover their freedom. Each piece often features a crescent moon representative of feminine energy and comes with an empowering message like “Let your heart center shine bright” or “Plant your seeds to grow your garden.” These paintings serve as daily inspirations, perfect for meditation spaces or any room where they can gently remind viewers of their goals on their journey.
I’ve since expanded into two new areas: the Skyscape collection, which includes inspirational sayings, and the Sound Frequency collection, featuring large, abstract works.
I hope, what truly sets my work apart, is that my art is not just beautiful to look at, but can be used as a tool to assist others in their process of self discovery. My focus is twofold, first is to empower women and second to give space for the feminine energies of compassion, empathy, nurturing, and creativity to emerge. The feedback from customers—like “She helps me stay grounded” and “Seeing her every day reminds me to practice self-love”—fills me with so much pride and gratitude to have supported others when they needed it.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to partner with local healers to integrate art into community events. Stay tuned for more on this new chapter!
How do you think about luck?
Art has always been a part of me. From a young age, I immersed myself in various mediums, studied famous artists, and visited museums to view great works of art. I was lucky to be given some natural talents and a passion for creating. This resurgence, however, wasn’t just luck. It was the result of a lot of introspection and action taken on my own journey from which my moon goddesses emerged. I have learned how to not let my fear of judgment and rejection dictate my path and that courage and hard work can support you in accomplishing your dreams.
