Story & Lesson Highlights with Bruno Cardoso

We recently had the chance to connect with Bruno Cardoso and have shared our conversation below.

Bruno, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. Have you ever been glad you didn’t act fast?
Yes, I usually text back pretty fast, but it’s been a few times where I couldn’t reply right away, and the problem that I had to solve solved itself, either it wasn’t a problem anymore or people solved it without me. So, sometimes giving it time is all the problem needs. (Now, I wish every problem was like that! Ha!)

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I love what I do. I create visuals (photos and videos) for architects, builders, and designers. It literally makes me smile when I’m able to capture a stunning property that was carefully designed and built!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I was in high school, my parents were going through a hard financial time, so I didn’t have much support. I started working part-time after school, and one day, going to work, it just clicked that now it’s up to me. My parents have done everything they could, gave me a good education, care, and love, and now I need to make my decisions and I’m responsible for everything that happens to me.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Many times, it’s not easy being an entrepreneur. One time I read this quote: “Instead of giving up, just take a break.” And that kind of stuck with me. I usually ask myself, what’s the purpose of what I’m doing right now? Do I want to give up because it’s hard or because it’s not taking me to where I want to go? Therefore, sometimes it is necessary to give up. Other times it’s just a matter of perspective.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
That’s such a good question! I don’t know what they would say, I wish they would say that I love my family, my wife, my kids and I’m a good human being, but I’m afraid that they might say I work a lot, I always talk about money.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop caring about what people think of me that are not part of my inner circle, I would also get rid of all social media so I’m not wasting time.
