Meet Chelsi Katz and Lisa Leder of Marijuana Mansion in Capitol Hill

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsi Katz and Lisa Leder.

Chelsi and Lisa, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The Marijuana Mansion has a deep history! This eclectic sandstone house, built-in 1889 for the Joseph Creswell family, was designed by Denver architect John J. Huddart. He skillfully combined elements of Queen Anne and Romanesque Revival influences when designing the mansion, and it was later named to the National Register of Historic Properties in 1977.

More recently, the mansion played a pivotal role in the legalization of marijuana, giving it the nickname “The Marijuana Mansion”. It was the Colorado headquarters for the Marijuana Policy Project and was also the offices for the law firm Vicente Sederberg. This is where Colorado’s successful recreational marijuana bill – Amendment 64- was written and implemented, as well as were many other marijuana milestones took place.

The mansion has been restored to be used as an intimate private event space that can accommodate up to 100. The Marijuana Mansion offers three floors of eclectic, cozy space totaling over 4,200 square feet.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
