Meet Tayler Krietemeier and Sara Mancuso of Rooted Boutique and White Oak Boutique in Littleton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tayler Krietemeier and Sara Mancuso.

Tayler and Sara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We are Sara and Tayler, the owners of Rooted Boutique and White Oak Boutique in Downtown Littleton. We started our journey about three and a half years ago. After working in the retail industry for many years, and having a great working relationship, we decided to take the plunge and open a store with all the values, price points and friendly atmosphere that we would want to shop at. We first opened Rooted on a side street, off the main area in 2016. We grew really quickly and decided we needed to be on the main street of this amazing neighborhood. We moved locations after nine months in business, around the corner from our original space to where we are today, 2490 W. Main St.

Rooted is a trendy women’s boutique that offers fashion forward, unique, wearable clothing & accessories at amazing prices! The current price range in the store is $10- $150.

The boutique was started with the idea of having roots planted in Colorado, and the desire to be focused on love and fashion. Each owner has their own unique experience in the fashion and retail industry and loves helping women. Being able to use their styling backgrounds in order to help women feel confident and comfortable is the main goal! The ladies also love to suggest styles that women wouldn’t normally pull for themselves. We have learned that everything truly does look better on you than on a hanger.

Rooted truly caters to women of all ages. It is the perfect destination for a girl’s day out with friends or family. Teenage daughters, young professionals, mothers and grandmothers can all enjoy the beautiful boutique. Whether you need a trendy new outfit, a comfy staple to wear over and over, one of a kind jewelry, or just an amazing scented candle- Rooted has something for everyone!

We feel that we have a cozy, feminine ambiance and a price point that is hard to beat!

After being on Main Street for a year and growing even more, we realized that we were trying to do a lot in our small shop and needed to expand. We both have roots in the special occasion industry and wanted to dip back into where it all began and what we love so much. We decided to open White Oak across the street from Rooted in October of 2018. White Oak is a special occasion store with the same values as Rooted. We want to make women feel comfortable while shopping for a once in a lifetime dress, or an outfit for date night. We offer clothing that is unique and reasonably priced. Our thought is, if you might only wear it once, you don’t want to spend a fortune, but shouldn’t have to sacrifice style or quality.

White Oak offers a wide range of sizes and styles. Our biggest attractions for customers are our bridal specific dresses- everything from bridal shower, bridesmaid, bachelorette party to rehearsal dinner. We also cater to wedding guest attire- we have dresses for the more casual, rustic Colorado weddings, all the way up to black tie gowns. In addition, we have an incredible selection of dresses for high school aged girls for senior pictures, homecoming, prom and graduation. We absolutely love working with women as they search for a special outfit that will leave them with special memories.

Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, things have been very smooth! We have somewhat adopted a mentality of, if it is a move we are supposed to make, we won’t have to force it. Of course, with all businesses, there are struggles, risks, or things that don’t go very easily. However, if we get to a point where things aren’t going in a direction we feel confident with, we won’t move forward.

The struggles have mainly all revolved around expanding. We have experienced three huge moves from opening Rooted originally, moving to main street and then opening a second store. The moves have all been so methodical and beneficial though, and we are so happy with the decisions we have made!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We believe that we are known for our customer service and great selection! This is also one of the things we are most proud of. We truly have so much fun coming to the stores every day. We are biased, but we have the best customers as well! We love interacting with people and building relationships.

We are also really proud of the growth we have experienced since opening and the confidence we have had in ourselves to continue to make big moves and take smart risks. There isn’t a safety net when you start your own business, so it has been so rewarding to grow and feel like we are doing the right thing.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Absolutely! We couldn’t love Littleton more than we do. The city in general is wonderful, and main street specifically is such a pleasure to be a part of. It is growing like crazy, even just in the time we have been here. There is such a fun mix of customers, every day is so different from the last. The only thing we wish there was more of, is parking! Lucky for us, there are so many people that want to come down here to eat and shop, but that can make it hard to find a spot. If that is our biggest issue, we consider ourselves incredibly lucky.

  • Rooted Boutique- $10-around $100
  • White Oak- $28 and up for basics, and $58- $500 for dresses or formal gowns
