Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Thai Way.
Hi Christine, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a Colorado native and studied Physiology and Finance at the University of Colorado at Boulder with a long-time intention to work in the health care industry. I come from a family of entrepreneurs, so I have always been fascinated by innovation and entrepreneurship. After a diverse professional career spanning technology, finance, and health care, I learned the business acumen and confidence to attempt launching my own business. My co-founders, Jon Just and Dr. Katie Richardson, and I discovered the many pain points in navigating the mental health care system to get started with therapy. Our personal experiences further revealed how hard it is for people to find a compatible therapist without giving up on the process altogether. As a result, we started to study the factors that lead to strong provider-patient connections three years ago, leveraging consumer surveys, clinical white papers, and therapist focus groups. We designed a matching algorithm and online platform to easily connect people to their most compatible providers, much like the eHarmony for therapy. The platform launched this year, May 2020, and since then, we have onboarded over 140 Colorado mental health providers and facilitated over 830 client matches.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a company in the middle of a pandemic has certainly proven to be an interesting experience. It has presented challenges to socialize the new platform and increase traffic to the site even though it is a free service. This has encouraged us to be creative with online networks and social media to get the word out. As with any young company, securing funding to scale and grow the company’s reach has also been a challenge. We’ve received requests to expand our services but will need to fundraise in order to do so.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Therapeasy.CO?
Therapeasy.co was launched in May 2020 and aims to help people find their perfect therapist. We studied the factors that make a strong provider-patient connection which is critically important in therapeutic outcomes. With that knowledge, Therapeasy developed a matching algorithm and easy-to-use online platform to help patients quickly find their most compatible mental health providers. We like to think of ourselves as the eHarmony for therapy. What sets us apart is our emphasis on a strong fit- we want to help people find a therapist they are comfortable with as well as meets their preferences in insurance, location, and availability. Therapeasy is all about reducing as many barriers as possible for people who are ready to seek care, which is why we will forever be free for clients to use! For therapists, we personalize your experience by providing you with profile optimization tips, partnerships to promote your practice and content, and client leads that match the specific services and expertise you offer. We are a new and innovative way to approach therapy!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people would be surprised that I speak four languages fluently. I am a first-generation Chinese-American and learned three different dialects of Chinese growing up.
