Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Cyr.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I think my love for event planning started when I was young. My mom would host an annual Christmas party at our house and her party ideas always started simple and I was always adding details and decorations to make every year a little bit better than the one before.
After graduating from college, I worked in the marketing department of a company called car2go in Denver. We were always trying to find fun ways for our members to get more involved and feel more connected to the brand, so we began hosting monthly member events. I was handed the responsibility of planning, coordinating, and keeping these events original and unique each month – and I absolutely loved it and knew it was something I wanted to do more of.
After leaving this job and moving to Fort Collins, my now husband and I got engaged. I spent our entire wedding planning process feeling completely jealous of the vendors that we had chosen to work with. It was a female driven industry, filled with creatives who spent their working hours creating beautiful events. I immediately knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. So after working a few weddings with another planner, I decided it was time to start my business. And that’s when Courtney Cyr Design + Events was born.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall, yes! Of course, there have been a hundred challenges and moments when I feel overcome with imposter syndrome – just waiting for someone to realize I have no idea what I’m doing. But the thing about the challenge of running a business is that the lessons you learn from those tough moments have seeped into my entire life, and changed me into a stronger more confident woman. There’s no schooling or training that would teach you those lessons.
However, I 100% believe that this is what I was born to do. And I also believe that when your work is your passion, things will always work out for the best.

Courtney Cyr Design + Events is a team of wedding planners with a passion for empowering couples to make the brave decision to create a wedding day that reflects who they are. My team and I craft carefully curated events with intention and attention to detail that ultimately result in an immersive experience for couples and their families and friends.
We are likely best known for our design style. I love a more natural, boho, minimalistic design and I think a lot of our couples are really drawn to that.
The thing that sets us apart from other planners is our drive to create a wedding day that is unique to each couple that we work with. We want to give them the wedding that they’ve been dreaming of, and if that means going out of our way to make sure that your cake cutting happens early enough for your grandma to see, we will make that happen. We want your wedding to stay true to you!
