Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Vaughn.
Jason, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a native of Denver who has always had a passion for sports and working out! During my youth and high school years, I played sports (football/track) and always had a huge passion for fitness and keeping my body in great shape. After graduating college and having played football throughout my college years, I continued training and working out.
In addition to my own passion for fitness, I am also a person who enjoys helping people reach their health and fitness goals. In 2015 I began working as an Independent Personal Trainer, training clients out of several gyms throughout the metro area. I would work my regular 9-5 job, then train clients during the evenings and weekends. I did this for about two years, then eventually opened my own Gym/Personal Training Studio. In addition to being a Certified Personal Trainer, I am also a Certified Nutrition Specialist. Most individuals who come to me are seeking guidance and want to improve their general fitness, reduce pain, improve their athletic performance or lose weight.
With such a high percentage of the U.S. population considered to be overweight or obese, the need for personal training services is more important than ever! There are obvious health risks associated with being overweight, but there is also the aspect of people lacking confidence and feeling apprehensive about their bodies. Whatever the reasons, I am here for them! There are a lot of people who are in need of help and motivation when it comes to safely and effectively incorporating exercise into their regular routine. I am a person who has a passion for sharing knowledge and changing people’s lives!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road! Is there ever a “smooth” road? Lol. As I mentioned, prior to opening my own gym, I would work my day job for eight hours, then go train clients for another five hours (Monday-Friday). On Saturdays/Sundays, I would put in ten hour days, training clients and perfecting my craft. I had memberships at several local gyms thoughtful the city and would “secretly” train clients in these gyms, with the goal of opening my own.
I would drive all over the city, accommodating clients in different areas. Grinding for real! I would say my biggest challenge was trying to find gyms that would allow independent trainers to use their facilities to train clients. As I struggled to find this, I always knew that this would be a service I would offer once I opened my own facility. And now, just a few years later, I am able to deliver on that, now offering gym space rental for independent trainers.
