Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Kornacki.
Jessica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been taking pictures of women for the past 15 years, but only started my very niche women-focused business four years ago. Over time, that has morphed into personal branding photography for female entrepreneurs. I feel passionate about seeing women succeed in their businesses, and I think showing up online and in photography gives businesses a leg up.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I think every creative that starts a business around their art has a big wake up call when they realize they also need to ace the logistics of running a business to be able to create something more than a hobby. Fortunately, I’ve fallen in love with running and growing a business as much as taking pictures. I work really hard to pass the information I’ve learned along the way to the women I photograph so they can keep doing the work they love as well.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Art of Her is a personal branding photography company that works with female business owners and entrepreneurs. This is a fairly new photography niche. There are probably thousands of photographers in Denver, and many of those focus on working with women, but I’ve really narrowed in on photographing business owners and providing strategies for them to use our images as marketing content. I’ve been taking pictures for so long that I have the lighting and posing down, so spend my time before a photoshoot planning out how to make the images powerful for their business.
What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been a total bookworm and introvert. I love to learn new things and grow in areas that I’m passionate about. I had a huge family growing up which everyone knows can get pretty crazy on a daily basis. We always had lots of fun and were encouraged to follow whatever path we wanted in life.
