Meet Kendrick Washington of Rocky Mountain Music Management in Aurora

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendrick Washington.

Kendrick, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Over the years, as I developed as an artist, and also developed a keen sense in business. I graduated from Rangeview with a full-ride scholarship, later dropping out in 2014 after being tired of school. Being a young college entrepreneur eventually got wind that an intern position with Ru Johnson and her consulting company Roux Black would soon pop up.

Until August of 2017, I learned various aspects of the music business and the key to running my own business in my two years with this internship. In January of 2018, I then launched my own music management business “Rocky Mountain Music Management”. RM3 COLORADO for short. I then began to prosper from the promotion seed previously planted with the internship. Since then, I have been throwing events and creating platforms for artists around the city. Platforms such as “The Conglomerates Music Showcase, Joints & Jawns Music Festival & Selection Saturday’s Networking Mixer.” All giving artists an opportunity to get on a platform to better their career. As well as being a connector in the city for artists and curators such as myself.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No smooth roads during this journey. I’ve been working on building relationships with big music industry executives, djs, promoters etc. Reaching out in many different ways to showcase the talent that is not only in Denver but in a Colorado and the rest of the Rocky Mountain region. This is a constant struggle.

Please tell us about Rocky Mountain Music Management Inc.
Rocky Mountain Music Management aka Rm3colorad, is a Music management & Promotion company. We specialize in being able to take artists under our management and spreading their name like around to DJs in the city, other promoters for shows (small & big), studio connections, open mics, clubs, bars, concerts etc. We usually know where to go and who to know. I’m also the one who does all of our street team promotion when we get booked for them.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would save more money for bigger events. That’s was the big difference in the success of some of the shows I’ve thrown over the years. I would have also created a website first before diving deep into the promo scene for clubs as well as concerts.
