Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon McClure.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 1992, I started a part-time job to gain extra money for my wedding. This part-time job was at a liquor store in Longmont Co. By 1996 my part-time job had progressed into a full time job. At this point, I started building relationships with caterers and venues by proving alcohol for weddings and events. 23 years later, I have built many lasting and meaningful relationships within the event based business industry. Owning and Operating many liquor store over the years brought me to a point in 2009 where I wanted to try to open a store where I could do only event based business. Party Liquor was that store. We created a business model that was very unique. The last 10 years and 2000 events have helped me maintain existing relationships and establish new ones.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
In the early days there was a big learning curve. Trying to figure out how much alcohol was needed for an event was hard. Having employees that could deliver the product to the venue for booked events and still have proper coverage to run the store was a daunting task. But the more events we did, The better we got at calculating product needed and managing deliveries and pickups. If fact after three years we had it down pretty good. From 1999 to 2009 everything ran like a smooth French Bordeaux. Once I opened Party Liquor in 2009 it was an easy transition. 2009 to 2012 it was business as usual. From 2012 on our unique business model created some obstacles that we adjusted and adapted to.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Party Liquor – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Party Liquor is a retail Liquor store. We specialize in providing products and services for Weddings, Parties, Corporate events or just the random thursday. We give our clients flexible packages that give them peace of mind during the planning process. We offer everything needed for the perfect bar. We make sure we listen to our clients’ needs and wants and build their specific package that will create lasting memories from their event. In the end, it is about creating relationships.
Relationships that might only last the duration of an event or Relationships that last a lifetime. Relationships are what we are most proud of.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Right now, as we grow our business our focus is to continue to create and maintain lasting relationships. We are exclusive at many venues and hope to continue to add new venues as we move forward. One of our focuses in the coming year is to add more Corporate relationships. I also would love to work more directly with wedding and event planners directly in the future. Their creativity and expertise is something we would love to be part of.
