Small Business of the Day: Conversations with Shenelle Roebuck

Today’s Small Business of the Day features an interview with Shenelle Roebuck. Please find our conversation below.

We’re thrilled to have the chance to ask you some fun questions today, but before we get started, can you introduce Kuumba Therapy, LLC’s Mind My Business Coaching to our readers.
Over the last year, my business has transitioned from a mental health therapy practice to business coaching practice incorporating mental health, empowerment, money mindset and business strategy. I have had the privilege of being among the first cohort of business coaches through Hello Seven, a company founded by Rachel Rodger to support women, especially women of color to build generational wealth through entrepreneurship. With this new certification, Kuumba Therapy, LLC will now support entrepreneurs, especially entrepreneurs of color in developing and scaling their business to build generational wealth.

With my background as a trauma therapist, I am able to support entrepreneurs in working through money trauma that is keeping them from achieving their goals. Additionally, my business partner, Megan Lerma, and I are creating Mind My Business Coaching Academy, set to launch in August 2024 to support entrepreneurs in all stages of business, through individual and group coaching, webinars, courses and retreats.

Mind My Business Coaching offers authentic, caring and collaborative support to entrepreneurs, because we know and understand the strengths and struggles when running your own business, It is our mission to inspire confidence, facilitate growth, and drive meaningful change, empowering entrepreneurs to build thriving businesses and lead fulfilling lives. We want to work with you and be a part of your journey to becoming a millionaire.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned building your business that you can share with those just starting out in their entrepreneurial journey?
One of the main reasons that Mind My Business Coaching was created was to close the knowledge gap about starting a business. When I started my business, I reached out to others who had also started similar businesses and got my checklist together. I did all of the things on the list and just like that I was a business owner, but what did that mean? Realistically, I had done everything to be a business entity, but I knew nothing about running a business. Here’s my advice, ask as many questions as you can, read about business systems, get a business coach, have a supportive squad around you, don’t listen to people who have negative things to say about your entrepreneur journey and network. Everything changed for me when I chose to get a business coach, and now I am a business coach. I am clear about what I need to do and can create actionable steps to achieve growth. This does not mean that I know everything about business, but it has closed a lot of the knowledge gaps that I had. I have more direction and clarity within my business and can now put the right systems into place to thrive. The most important lesson on this journey is that your determination and hard work will lead you to the places you want to go. Don’t be afraid to fail, ask questions, and seek support- you do not have to do this alone. I see future millionaire.

Alright, before we go, let’s do a quick lightning round.
